Dispoz-o's Partnership with the Greenville County Disabilities & Special Needs Board

For more than 17 years, Dispoz-o has partnered with the Greenville County Disabilities & Special Needs Board (GCDSNB), providing in-house employment to over 50 workers.  Dispoz-o had a strong commitment to serving the community at large.  One of the greatest community needs is providing meaningful employment to disabled individuals.  Dispoz-o has developed a successful program to not only provide employment to mentally disabled people, but to place them into a nurturing, mainstreamed work environment.  Dispoz-o's disabled program is the largest in the state of South Carolina.

Job coaches work closely with the disabled workers to ensure that they achieve money management skills and develop interpersonal skills for co-worker relationships.  This serves to richly enhance each individual's quality of life.  A highlight of the Dispoz-o experience is the annual Memorial Day picnic at Carowinds Theme Park which is eagerly anticipated by all Dispoz-o employees, but especially by its disabled workers.

Working at Dispoz-o affords disabled individuals with the normal challenges and rewards of sustaining employment.  Most importantly, the work opportunity affords the disabled the ability to gain independence and self-worth.

Dispoz-o has an ongoing commitment to continue and to expand programs to meet the employment needs of disabled workers.  For its efforts, the Company was honored to have been awarded the coveted Triumph of the Human Spirit Award by the Greenville County Disabilities and Special Needs Board.
